Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.

Regardless of gender, age, or nationality,
there is a growing interest in eye and nose surgeries.
Compared to other plastic surgeries, they are relatively popularized
and easily accessible, but
even with these eye and nose surgeries,
the first thing you might worry about
is the pre-operative precautions.
Today, we will look into the precautions before getting eye and nose surgery
in detail.

No Eyelid Glue or Eyelid Tape?
Before getting eye surgery,
it is recommended not to use eyelid glue and eyelid tape
starting from one week prior.
This is because eyelid glue and eyelid tape
can make the eyelid skin thinner
and cause it to sag.
Therefore, even if you regularly use eyelid glue and eyelid tape,
we recommend stopping their use
at least one week before the surgery.

What About Taking Medication Before Eye and Nose Surgery?
If you are taking blood-thinning medications
such as Aspirin,
you must stop taking them one week prior
to achieve better results during your eye and nose surgery.
Of course, if you have medications that must be taken,
such as high blood pressure or diabetes medication,
you may be able to take them as an exception.
Please make sure to discuss this with the medical staff
during your pre-operative consultation before making a decision.

No Eyelash Extensions?
If you have eyelash extensions,
you must have them removed
on the day of your eye and nose surgery
so they do not interfere with the procedure,
allowing for better results.

No Nail Art or Pedicures?
During the surgery, oxygen saturation is typically checked
using your fingernails.
If you have nail art or a pedicure,
it can interfere with the oxygen saturation measurement.
Therefore, it is safer to have them all removed
before undergoing your eye and nose surgery.

No Accessories?
During the surgery, an electrocautery device is used
to control bleeding.
If you are wearing metal accessories,
there is a risk of burns due to electrical currents,
so it is best not to wear any accessories.

No Alcohol or Smoking Until When?
After surgery, good blood circulation in the blood vessels is necessary
for faster wound healing and recovery.
However, smoking constricts peripheral blood vessels,
which delays wound healing.
Additionally, all anesthetics used during surgery
are metabolized through the liver.
If you drink excessively, it can cause problems with liver function,
preventing the anesthetics from being metabolized smoothly,
which can put a strain on the liver.
Therefore, you must completely stop smoking and drinking
at least two weeks before the surgery.

No Driving on the Day of Surgery?
Some people consider driving their own car on the day of surgery.
Many seem to think that
it will be fine as long as they rest enough after the procedure.
However, in reality, even if sedation
is administered for a very short time,
or even if sedation is not used at all,
eye surgery causes swelling around the eyes,
which can temporarily reduce your vision
and make your field of view blurry.
Because it is dangerous to drive yourself under these conditions,
we highly recommend using public transportation.

By carefully following these few simple precautions,
you can safely undergo your eye and nose surgery
and achieve better surgical results,
so please keep them in mind and make sure to follow them.
