We Explain Why Design is Important in Eye Surgery!
Hello. This is Vibe Plastic Surgery. Because each individual has a different eye shape, eye-opening muscle strength, and degree of skin elasticity, it is necessary to plan a design that suits you by considering the overall proportions and harmony of your face during eye surgery. Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.
Because each individual has a different eye shape, eye-opening muscle strength,
and degree of skin elasticity,
when performing eye surgery,
considering the overall proportions and harmony of your face,
a design that suits you
must be planned.

So today, we will take a closer look at
why design is important
in eye surgery.

If you go to any plastic surgery clinic
for a consultation, they will try forming a line
to see if that line suits you
and if it is the line you want,
running various simulations.
The reason is that during an eye surgery consultation,
this part is the most important.
During the consultation, various lines such as in-line, in-out line, or
out-line must be formed
so you can find the exact line you want.

Because eye surgery involves deciding on a line
and designing accordingly before
proceeding with the procedure,
the surgical results will turn out
exactly as designed.
To the extent that there is no surgery without a design,
you can consider design to be a very important process
in eye surgery.

There may be cases where the results do not turn out
as designed.
The reason is that our skin texture
basically spirals in concentric circles,
and if this part is overlooked and designed out of alignment,
unlike the desired design line, the line will form along the texture
that the original skin naturally follows,
which can result in the line becoming too high
or multiple folds forming.

During an eye surgery consultation,
tools called a liner and a caliper
are mainly used for designing.

Liner
The liner is made of flexible wire, and
because it would hurt if it were too sharp when touching the skin,
it is a tool with slightly blunt
ends.
There are a total of two liners,
and these tools are used to create and directly show you the line.
If you want to check bilateral symmetry, using them one by one
to see the line makes it a very useful tool
to predict what it will look like after surgery.

Caliper
You can think of the caliper as a tool that acts as a ruler.
Once fixed, it forms an accurate angle
to match the desired mm, making it a very useful tool
when designing.
Each clinic may use different tools
when designing.
Vibe Plastic Surgery uses tools called a liner and a caliper
to plan a customized design tailored to each individual.

When designing,
designing in a seated position is the most basic step.
We need to check the process of opening and closing the eyes, and
since we always face people in an upright position,
to clearly see how much the eyebrows sag and
how much the skin covers the eyes,
designing in a seated position is the most important.

After the initial design while seated,
it must be checked once more while lying down.
The reason is that because you are tense while seated,
if you close your eyes tightly, the skin may appear to sag a lot
due to gravity and force.
So, while lying down, you relax as much as possible, and
without frowning,
we check it once again.
Therefore, we must check if there is a significant difference
between sitting and lying down, and
determine the final design.

This can commonly happen during eye surgery.
The reason is that when administering anesthesia, it is usually kept to a minimum
of under 1cc per eye, but
if the skin itself is very thin,
the left and right sides may swell differently.
In this case, even if the incisions were made with the exact same design,
both sides may look different.
So in times like this, it is most important not to panic
and proceed as originally planned.
That is why you must receive a consultation and proceed
with a board-certified plastic surgeon with abundant clinical experience.
This is because makeshift surgery that ignores the design due to a lack of experience
can lead to errors.

As with all processes,
planning is very important.
The same goes for eye surgery.
Making a good plan and proceeding with the surgery accordingly
is extremely important.
