Discover the Precautions After Eye and Nose Surgery!
Hello. This is Vibe Plastic Surgery. The first impression you get when meeting someone is largely determined by facial features like the eyes and nose. Because of this, eye and nose surgeries are on the rise. However, before surgery, patients are distracted by the procedure itself, and afterward, they are busy wondering if the surgery went well, often missing the precautions. So today, we will look at the precautions after eye and nose surgery.

Hello.
This is Vibe Plastic Surgery.

When meeting someone for the first time,
it is no exaggeration to say that your first impression
is determined by facial features like the eyes and nose.
Because of this, it seems that the number of eye and nose surgeries
is increasingly on the rise.
However, before the surgery, patients are often distracted by the procedure itself,
and afterward, they are so focused on whether the surgery went well
that they often gloss over the post-operative precautions.
So today, we will take a detailed look at
the precautions to follow after eye and nose surgery.

Taking Medication?
The prescribed medication includes antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, digestive aids,
and ingredients that help
reduce swelling effectively.
After eye and nose surgery, you must properly take or apply
the prescribed medications so that the surgical site
does not become inflamed or infected,
allowing the wound to heal well.

Cold and Warm Compresses?
After eye and nose surgery,
cold compresses are helpful up to the 3rd day,
and after 3 days, you should switch to warm compresses.

The reason for using a cold compress
is to constrict blood vessels
to prevent bleeding,
and because the blood vessels constrict,
it helps with hemostasis in the early stages.
However, using a cold compress 3 days after eye and nose surgery
can delay wound healing by constricting blood vessels,
so it is best to use it only
for the first 3 days post-surgery.

The reason for using a warm compress
is to dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow,
which helps the swelling subside more quickly.
However, if you use a warm compress from the beginning,
the blood vessels will continue to dilate,
which can cause minor bleeding, increase facial swelling,
and slow down recovery.
Switching from cold to warm compresses
around the 3rd day after eye and nose surgery
is the most ideal method for managing swelling.

How to Properly Compress the Nose
After rhinoplasty, the nostrils are usually blocked
with nasal packing.
This can cause both the eyes and the face
to swell.
Therefore, when applying a cold compress,
do not place it directly on the nose.
Instead, apply it gently around the eyes and cheeks
to help with blood circulation
and prevent severe swelling.

When Can You Blow Your Nose?
Blowing your nose forcefully can increase blood pressure,
causing capillaries to burst and bleed, which can lead to complications.
Because of these potential issues, it is highly recommended
to avoid blowing your nose forcefully for at least a week.

When Can You Wear Glasses?
For those who normally wear glasses,
wearing them after surgery can put pressure on the nose.
Therefore, we generally advise against wearing glasses
for about 3 weeks to 1 month.
Also, when wearing a mask constantly as we do now,
you need to be careful.
Make sure to shape the wire part over the nose properly
so that it does not press directly on the surgical site.
Please take extra caution.

Why Elevate Your Head While Sleeping?
Sleeping with your head elevated
helps reduce swelling,
so we recommend using extra pillows
to keep your head propped up while you sleep.

Is Pumpkin Effective for Swelling?
Because pumpkin itself has a diuretic effect,
it is effective in reducing swelling.
Therefore, it is good to consume plenty of pumpkin-related foods.

NO Smoking! NO Alcohol!
Regardless of before or after eye and nose surgery,
this is the most important precaution.
Smoking and alcohol delay wound healing,
so we strongly recommend avoiding them
for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
Managing your condition during the post-operative recovery period
is just as incredibly important as the surgery itself.
Please make sure to fully understand and follow
the precautions after eye and nose surgery.
