The facial line everyone wants? A V-line!
While facial contouring is available as a surgical option,
nowadays, rather than strictly methods that shave bone,
there are various other methods available :)
So today, focusing on the topic of
various methods that can change your face shape,
we will be discussing your options!

What causes an uneven face shape?
When discussing a bumpy or uneven facial contour,
the cause can sometimes be attributed to the facial bones.
In most cases where patients are dissatisfied with their face shape,
facial contouring surgery is often the first thing that comes to mind.
For protruding cheekbones, cheekbone reduction surgery,
and for a developed square jaw,
surgeries that refine the outer facial lines
can be considered.
However, surgical methods come with a recovery period
and the burden of having to shave bone.
Therefore, let's talk about other methods
aside from facial contouring surgery.

When facial fat is the cause
First, if there is a lot of fat on the face,
Vibe Plastic Surgery utilizes LipoSound
to perform ultrasound liposuction.
On the other hand, for cases where a lack of facial fat
causes facial hollows and contours to stand out,
we recommend fat grafting.
By filling the sunken areas with fat,
we can smooth out the facial contour.

When is facial liposuction ineffective?
First, when the facial contour is large and asymmetrical.
If the facial structure is exceptionally large, liposuction alone
makes it difficult to resolve. For large and
asymmetrical contours, facial contouring surgery
should be considered.
Second, when the soft tissues are unusually thick.
There are patients who have less fat than expected, but their soft tissues,
especially the skin including the dermal layer, are unusually thick
or lack elasticity.
In these cases, satisfaction from liposuction alone
is relatively low, so thread lifting or
a double chin muscle tie (platysmaplasty) is often recommended.
Third, when the masseter muscle, salivary glands, or parotid glands are large.
In such cases, combining liposuction
with Botox treatments
can increase both effectiveness and satisfaction.
Fourth, when the chin is small and short.
For those with a small or short chin,
ultrasound liposuction alone can have limitations
in terms of effectiveness.
Therefore, chin fillers or implants
are recommended alongside it.

Other methods to change my face shape?
While there is fat grafting as mentioned above,
if you have a very thin body type and harvesting fat
is difficult, we may recommend fillers.
If your cheekbones protrude, sunken temples might be
the cause, which can be resolved with fillers or fat grafting
to balance the face.
If skin sagging is not severe,
receiving ultrasound lifting (e.g., Shurink)
can also yield highly effective results.
If your chin tip is blunt, fillers can be used
to create a more three-dimensional look.
At this time, the most important thing is to proceed with
a customized procedure suitable for each individual's specific areas and symptoms!

What are the potential side effects after facial liposuction?
First, a hard and pulling sensation.
This can occur due to bio-bonding.
When performing ultrasound liposuction, a micro-cannula is used
to suction the fat, and blood vessels or lymphatic vessels
may be stimulated, causing this sensation.
However, the bio-bond phenomenon is a natural occurrence
as the tissues heal and recover,
usually lasting 1 to 2 months, or up to 3 to 4 months
in longer cases.
To help it resolve more quickly, warm compresses
or stretching exercises
are recommended for consistent aftercare :)
Second, sensory changes, itchiness, or a crooked lip.
No matter how fine the cannula used for the procedure is,
the most distal ends of the sensory and motor nerves
can be temporarily damaged and then regenerate, which is why
it might feel itchy, numb like someone else's skin,
or cause asymmetrical movement.
These symptoms can appear.
This will return to normal as the nerves regenerate,
so there is NO need to worry!
